In Deep Water

We were exploring Lake Champlain near Westport, and came across the Cascades. This rock wall goes straight up, and the water runoff from the mountains pours off the cliffs after it rains or the snow melts.

 We decided to check the water depth as we got near the shore. Right here, close to the rock cliff, it was 179 ft. deep.



At about 20 ft. from shore, Dave checked and it read156 ft. deep with our hand held depth sounder.


The least we found was 20 ft. deep with the bow on the rocks.

Must be below the water looks just like above.


No wonder Champ, the legendary sea monster, likes this lake!
