Home Sweet Home

After 15 days away, I am finally back home. My sutures have been removed, but the middle of the incision opened up so I have to be very careful about not getting dirt in it and getting another infection. I have to continue the antibiotic ointment until the wound is totally healed. It's great to be back and see all Dave has done and all the bushes and flower gardens are blooming! From now on, hopefully the blog posts will be more entertaining.

Taking an Unanticipated Break

I apologize to all my faithful readers for taking so long to update the blog. I do have a couple of fun things to post, but they are taking a back seat to the latest event affecting us. I am back in Daytona trying to recover from surgery on my forehead for squamous cell skin cancer. Both Dave and I had gone to see a dermatologist when we were here last and the little itchy spot that I have had for a long time ended up not being a dermatitis that another doctor told me. Even though this dr. did a biopsy, I really didn't think it was anything so we went back home. After much contemplation as to what to do, I decided to come back down for a week and have it taken care of. The nurse made it sound like it wasn't a big deal. Unfortunately it was and the roots were deep and long so they had to go in three times during the Moh's procedure. I have a horizontal 2" incision on my forehead...but hey there are no more wrinkles because they had to pull the skin up to meet my scalp. The swelling and bleeding were bad and the swelling went down into my eyelids and below my eyes. Then for some reason it is now infected and I may be having a reaction to the sutures. I am awaiting culture results. I'm glad I don't have my camera to take photos. It's been quite an ordeal. If I had known it would be this intense I would have had Dave come with me. Now I have been told I may not be able to go home for two weeks. We'll see and I'll keep you posted. Some day I'll get back to writing about the fun stuff too....
