Yak Is Back!

Today we took our first kayaking exploration since I broke my ankle. It was a challenge getting into the kayak from the boat, but Dave anchored Walkabout in very shallow water near a small beach on Tilloo Cay, allowing me to slide into the thigh deep water and then sit down in the kayak with Dave holding it. Talk about freedom!

We paddled in the lee of the island to Tilloo Pond, and it was wonderful looking down into the clear water again.

The main part of the island is very narrow in this area, and the ocean waves crash on the iron coral sending up spumes of water and spray, along with quite a few floating objects that make it over the hill...like this steering wheel!

We saw our first tropicbirds of the season, with their long white tails.

We also saw large schools of fish, several turtles which frequent the pond, and two large southern stingrays that hung around our kayaks and the boat.

After a picnic lunch on aboard, we headed back towards Hope Town, but stopped so Dave could swim and snorkel off the castle on Tilloo.

What a gorgeous day finally and we feel so bad that everyone up north is shoveling out from yesterday's snowstorm!😉
