We had been waiting for about a week for both the metal roof and the rubble for the 'floor' to arrive, so we could continue the shed project. It didn't really matter all that much, because our weather has been quite rainy. Instead, Dave hopped in Hercules' comfy cab and dug up tree stumps and roots in our front yard. We're hoping it's a good time to do it, so the grass will grow back in the spring. It will be sooo much easier, now that I don't have to mow around them all.
Doesn't it figure that both the roof and the rubble arrived, not only on the same day, but within an hour of each other?
Then it was time to decide which to play with, the roof or rubble. The decision was easy...put up the roof. It was quite a challenge to get the panels up onto the rafters (two different sizes, 36"x10' and 36"x12'), especially working around all the bikes, posts, and equipment. It took two afternoons for us to complete it, which is pretty fast considering the enormous area and working between the raindrops. As we reached for the last of the sheets of metal, we realized that our order had been shorted by one of the smaller ones. Very frustrating, since they were special ordered to match the color of the rest of our roofs. Instead, Dave put back up a mismatched one from the old shed until we can get the missing link shipped to the distributor, which will take about a week.
Everything else looks great. It is even nice and straight. We may have to wait for the last panel, but there is still plenty to do.This weekend we plan on having a big work party to get the bikes moved, rubble spread, and all the equipment in its new home. Stay tuned for the final photos!
