Roof Over

September 1st was the two year anniversary of Cat 5 Hurricane Dorian's landfall in the Abacos, changing many lives forever. In memory of that day, and the fact that the remnants of Ida were going to bring a couple inches of rain up here, Dave started the back shop and showroom's new roof. It had been having some seams leak that he has been trying to nurse on with repairs, but with all the low spots in the aging roof, there were still some splatters inside where the office is and also over the '39 Plymouth. We are really into metal roofs and found a place near Northville that makes sheets to order. I didn't take any photos, but should have, because they have various colored metal in huge rolls, then cut it to order, sliding it through a machine that puts the corrugations in it. What a great owner, and very reasonable prices. The end product...

Dave spent all day yesterday getting the pieces up on the roof and securing them with screws. I had the easy job of telling him from below, where the initial screws were supposed to go in on the edges. I felt like the eye doctor..." better here or here?" 😉

He didn't get the whole roof done before the rain started, but the leaky spots are covered. Once it dries out and isn't slippery anymore, only four more rows to install.
