Yup, that's right, we don't have power again. Last night at 11 PM the power went out and came back on at 1:30 AM. Then at about 11 AM it went back off until 3 PM. At 5 PM it was off again and is still off now. Rumor had it that both new generator pumps had issues and that a crane was brought in to lift them out of the water bore hole/well to see if they could be fixed. At the time that made sense since the power went off last night (one pump failure?) and then the second time today (2nd pump failure?) Dave had a theory that if that was the case, then there is a good chance that the bore hole is contaminated with silt or something that is clogging the pump or there isn't enough water. However, BPL claims that there is a cable problem and the power will be restored in about 4-6 hours and that the pumps were only lifted out to be inspected during their investigation into the power outage. They also claim we are not on a power shedding/sharing schedule, but if you look at the timing, it sure seems like we are. We shall see!
Yesterday we found out that one of the islands still didn't have power despite the rest of us having it. That ended up being a problem with an underwater cable that they had to get a diver to fix. However, the diver said there were too many bull sharks in the area and they had to wait for another diver to come help...or probably stand by and keep watch. This is all so much like Jimmy Buffett's play 'Don't Stop the Carnival' based on Herman Wouk's book. I also think that one person here summed it best when he said it's more like a Three Stooges episode. And our marina generator drones on...thankfully!
FOOTNOTE: Right after I posted this, I found this schedule on Facebook, so who do we believe?
