Up-Along Walk

The upper road in Hope Town Settlement is known as going up-along, and yesterday we walked to the Upper Cemetery. We haven't been there in a couple of years, but we always find the view amazing. What a place to be buried!

This is Rudy's grave. he was the owner of the old Club Soleil before he sold it to become Hope Town Inn and Marina. He retired and spent all his remaining days on the water and has now "gone fishing" forever. What an icon who passed away this summer and is sorely missed.

Here is Dave looking for Abaco Dinghy builder Winer Malone's grave. It was a bit difficult because the newer grave sites aren't marked.

Along the road we saw a few odd sights. First, do you think this spaghetti mess has anything to do with the inconsistent power supply?

Then we found all these batteries at the base of the cell tower. If you click on the photo to enlarge it and look closely, you will see that each gigantic battery is damaged. No wonder there was no cell service or internet for the BTC customers when the power was off.

This photo needs no explanation...

However, this is my favorite view of the harbor from up-along and I bet it is photographed by many people. That road you see below us is known as down-along of course!
