When The Wind Blows

Yesterday, Lake George and lower Lake Champlain were too windy too boat on, with lots of whitecaps everywhere. Instead we decided to take an afternoon convertible trip in the PT Cruiser to Essex, hop on the ferry across Lake Champlain to Vermont, and then back through Vergennes and to Crown Point.

The ferry arrived and we left Essex in the distance.

Were we ever surprised to see that this part of the lake was totally calm!

As we approached McNeil Cove in Vermont, we wished the trip had been longer.

We took back roads, including some that weren't paved, visiting places that we used to while cruising the lake. We always wondered how people got to their houses in this area, and now we know. We first ended up in Converse Bay and then at Point Bay Marina, before finding the main road back to Vergennes.

Then it was back across lower Lake Champlain where it was windy once again. I guess we didn't miss anything!

Today however, we really didn't miss anything because it was calm everywhere, including Lake George where we spent most of the day. Boat traffic wasn't too bad, but look out on the 4th of July.

Enjoy your Independence Day celebrations!
