Woodworking 101

While the wind has been blowing and the temps have been in the 60's during the day (45 right now!), we have been taking care of some projects around the house. Among other things, Dave fixed a bit of rotting wood at the base of our front windows, smartly replacing it with plastic, so that the rain won't get in and disintegrate the wood framework behind it. The most fun we had though, was building a new lobster trap...yes, life for these two old goats is simple. 😉  The old trap that came with our place, was falling apart and there was hardly anything left to it.

With Dave's imagination and know-how, he modified the design a bit, buying the slats and irrigation tubing for the rounded part. Then we spent the day sawing, drilling, and putting it all together. The crowning glory was that we made the old netting fit, and our little project turned out really nice. The front of our yard looks nautical again.

The lizards think it is a playground, but hopefully we won't catch any of the armadillos or rabbits that roam around! Maybe we will have to go into business making these decorative traps for other's homes in the park. 😎
