My husband is a very tenacious mechanic! By 9 PM last night he had the Cub running.
First he had to free up the motor by gently prying the flywheel and getting it to move. Then there was no compression because most of the valves were stuck, which he patiently freed up. There were no spark plugs in it, but luckily he had some on hand but the firing sequence was not correct. Once that was corrected and gas was added, it started and runs fine. The gas tank had no gas in it and is like brand new, so the carb was fine too and didn't need to be cleaned. So far there aren't even any leaks, the clutch and brakes work, and it shifts. Now it's time to clean it up after all that storage time. We will leave it original. Wow!
