Yesterday was a beautiful crisp day to spend a few hours up in the 1000 Islands. Wow, was the cool air off the St. Lawrence River refreshing...natural air conditioning! The Buick makes the trip easy and we took the scenic route through Amish country on the way there. Taking Rt. 12 from Utica through Watertown is a bit slower with all the little towns, but the actual mileage is less than I 81. Rt. 12 ends up in Clayton and we were greeted by a freighter passing by!
After lunch we continued on to Alexandria Bay, walking along the classic old gift shops, the docks, and sitting in the waterfront park across from Boldt Castle. This is funny selfie because we couldn't see the phone screen and I can't seem to find the castle in the background which is what we were supposed to be aiming at (blame it on Dave who took the shot and cut me partially out of the photo too😉).
Now we can't wait to return in a few weeks for the "Thunder on the Bay" Poker Run with all the exotic speed boats.
On the way home on I 81 we always pass by these gigantic metal crow statues in a field. I finally was able to take a photo through the windshield going 65+mph...
Today is the final day of the Gallupville Gas-Up where the white Farmall Cub will make its debut in the show circuit (stay tuned for photos). We sure do get around!
