Trucks & Cars & Tractors, Oh My!

This was the weekend for the Antique Truck Show in Ballston Spa. Of course this includes cars, tractors, and motors too, so the place is a flurry of activity. I thought last year's was a record amount of vehicles, but this year was even more with an overflow area. Plus the weather cooperated and was about 65-70 degrees compared to last year's 90 degrees. Dave brought up two trailer loads from his collection of classics and antiques including 'Miney' the white demonstrator Farmall tractor.

My pick for best in show was the New York State Police's 1941 Paddy Wagon.

Nice 2 seater tractor so that one person can run the tractor and the other can run the equipment controls.

Freedom isn't free!

It must have been chilly if they slept in this tent, although it looks like a hot tub below it!

Stay out of this one's way!

A '53 just like me! This was a Chevy Delivery that was for sale (unlike me 😉)

Here are a bunch more of my favorites...

This truly is an amazing event, especially knowing how far so many of these vehicles traveled from, including all of the Northeast and Ontario, Canada. Kudos to all who organized and came to this annual extravaganza!

Up Up & Away..

In my beautiful balloon! 🎵🎶 Well, not mine but still beautiful. We went to the opening ceremonies of the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Glens Falls tonight and it was fantastic. Although it was overcast, there wasn't any wind and about 20 of the balloons were able to fly. First they lay out the balloons on the ground with the gorgeous baskets laying on their sides. They start filling them with a motorized fan...

Then it's time to fire up the propane burners...

Until they stand upright. Meanwhile there are line handlers that keep them from taking off until it is time.

This one was an old Budweiser balloon, but they changed the wording to DUDE and put a patch over BEERS.

Here are the rest of the photos including everyone's favorite, the white rabbit. It even had a puff of a tail.

Bye bye bunny as it skims over the tree tops.

What an awesome evening!

Wet, Wet, Wet!

As I sit here watching everything get wetter from the remnants of Hurricane Florence, I figured it was an appropriate time to post some photos of this year's Wet Meet at Schroon Lake, which was held this past Sunday. Once again, as it did last year, the fog rolled in making it quiet and eerie, but when the sun came out, the hydroplanes were ready to go out for demonstrations. Several needed some work to get running, but that's all a part of the experience! Enjoy the photos below and the Mohawk Chapter of the Antique Outboard Motor Club, that sponsored this event, has over 170 photos on their Facebook page...

After seeing everyone out having fun on this super calm day, we went back to Ticonderoga and took Moxie out for one more swim in Lake George before we winterized the boat.

We hate to see it all end, but we feel we got the most out of this great summer on the lakes. Time to bring on autumn!
