Weekend On Wheels

This past weekend was our fall weekend filled with events. Starting on Friday we went to Lake George Village to see the Adirondack Nationals Annual Car Show and watch as the vehicles paraded down the main street. We didn't take very many photos but below are just a few of the hundreds (maybe thousands) of cars there.

We saw and heard lots of burn-outs being done on the streets, which is pretty unusual, since there are usually large amount of police around prohibiting it. Here is a YouTube link I found that shows quite a few of them.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdAX1RWT0Zs

Saturday is usually the Tugboat Round Up in Waterford, but we skipped that this year in order for Dave to go to Rice-O-Rama's Minibike Throwdown in Massachusetts. He took Gulliver so he could spend the night and attend the show and swap meet the next day.

Here is Dave's entry that he created from a minibike frame and installing an OMC Hammerhead 437cc, 25 hp engine in it. He aptly called in the Quarter Hoss, since it is a miniature version of the Boss Hoss motorcycles which have a V-8 engines in them. He ended up not doing any of the races because they got a bit out of hand and he didn't want to wreck his beautiful paint job!

Sunday's show was great and Dave entered the Quarter Hoss in the judging, but unfortunately didn't win any awards. It sure was looked at a lot though!

There are actually some other very creative minds out in the world besides Dave 😉, and one builder displayed his whimsical motor bicycles which were a huge hit. Look closely at the photos to see what he repurposed for parts...

A few more photos from the day's event...

Monday was a washout with pouring rain, canceling the last Guptill's car show of the year. Then we found out that after 30 years that they will no longer be hosting these car shows, which so many people will miss. Rumor has it the place will soon be townhouses. 😢

However, that day gave Dave a chance to rest up for his next big adventure. Tuesday morning he flew to Indiana to pick up and drive home the GMC Safari van that will replace our aging blue Safari van that has twice as many miles on it that the newer (1997) van has. I will miss that van when it is sold because it is so distinctive. He found the pristine green one at a dealership online and hence the latest road trip. From beginning to end, including the flight, he was back home in 26 hours. The salesman even posted a photo of him and his new acquisition on his Facebook page.
Now we will take advantage of our nice return to summer weather up in Ticonderoga, while we watch to see what happens with Hurricane Florence. We certainly hope it isn't as bad as they say, although then the remnants may be headed up north to us.
