Placid Day

Yesterday was most likely our last 90+ degree day of the season. The conditions were perfect to take the Sea Fox skiff even further north to Lake Placid. It has to be hot out to go there, because it is always about 10 degrees cooler in the High Peaks, especially out on the water. We were lucky enough that it was a whopping 87 degrees at Lake Placid, which we had never even heard of before. What a gorgeous day for cruising along and seeing all the beautiful camps (more like mansions), boathouses, and oh so many wooden boats! Here is the link for my last post on the boathouse tour if you would like to refresh your memory... http://intoanewhorizon.blogspot.com/2016/07/boathouse-tour.html  Seeing all this with the spectacular backdrop scenery of Whiteface Mountain was amazing.

Then when we were anchored, so that Dave could clean the boat up for winter storage in our own 'boathouse garage', we had a visitor swoop down to the water right next to us, that left us staring with our eyes and mouths wide open. It was the closest eagle encounter we have ever had.

Talk about going out on a high note? Most definitely!
