Canal Paddle

A few days ago we took the kayaks back to Manatee Pocket to explore the numerous canals that lead off of it. You know how we like boats, and there certainly were plenty!

We came across this beautiful old style traditional Albury skiff that they used to make in Man-O-War Cay, but this one is fiberglass instead of wood.

On the other end of the tradition spectrum is this boat with 4 engines, but I really like how the underside of the T-Top is the same color as the boat.

Up at Hidden Harbor mobile home park's docks, we saw Ma Cherie. This trawler used to go to Abaco and be hauled out at Abaco Yacht Services in Green Turtle Cay for the summer, back when we used to store New Horizon there also.

Speaking of New Horizon...here is a sistership!

Back in the anchorage there are quite a few liveaboard boats now, but this sailboat must have sunk recently. I don't remember seeing it last time we kayaked this area.

This canal was loaded with boats being worked on. It must have been challenging getting this wide catamaran docked, although I have a feeling it was there first (and for quite some time), before the others docked. The boat had lots of damage, probably from some previous hurricane.

This photo is for my sister and she will understand why...

If  "it's all in a name," then this boat must be mine! The brand is a Carolina Skiff, and I love how the owners changed it.

The day after we kayaked, we went back to Manatee Pocket and tried sailing our little DC 15 daysailer. We rigged and launched it just in time for one of those famous Florida isolated showers to soak us, along with the wind completely disappearing. At least we made it back to the ramp after a very abbreviated sail around the harbor. Oh well, makes it another memorable day.
