Post Dorian Boats and Houses

The internet has had all sorts of photos posted on it after Hurricane Dorian, but Dave took quite a few shots of boats and houses that no on else had. This small sampling of photos will be a bit mixed up, but you can get an idea of the devastation and the long recovery road ahead.

Jumbled up boat mess in Green Turtle Cay...

The water tower twisted and collapsed.

Back in Hope Town...The crew boat behind the dismasted sailboat is housing the wonderful volunteers from Samaritan's Purse.

Catamarans everywhere flipped over...

This is the boat that Dave crewed on and won so many races with.

The very popular Coffee House was heavily damaged.

Many houses completely disappeared like this house 'Sundancer' that was a pile of wood...

This is actually a two story house that blew about 50 ft. and landed on another house that used to belong to Winer Malone, who built all the Abaco Dinghies in Hope Town.

This is the debris from inside our friends Marcia and Barry's house (remember 'Dexter' the deck I named? It survived!)

The rack storage that collapsed at Lighthouse Marina and Boatyard

This street was cleared with the debris piled on the side of the road, but you still can't get down the road because of the house in the middle of it. This is the house that good friends Jim and Sharon used to rent for the winter.

What is left of the HT Inn & Marina's manager's house...

The inside of  s/v Spirit...

The blue building used to be the post office and it had a second floor! The big ball is satellite communication that was brought in post-Dorian.

Hope Town Volunteer Fire & Rescue's boat was left in the forklift for the storm so it would be the first boat back in the water to take care of emergencies. It flipped upside down and was destroyed. Since then, with the help of many donations, another boat has been purchased and brought to HT.

Last, but not least, our two boats were sitting in the rack in the boatyard undamaged, but very dirty. 'Walkabout', our 2 kayaks, and 'Dandy' have been sold. All that remains is 'Safari' the 16ft. skiff and hopefully a buyer will be found soon.

Now it's time to look ahead and enjoy our time here in Jensen Beach...onward!
